Tips for Perfect Push Ups
Let’s get one thing straight, there are no such things as girl push-ups. The modification of the push up where your knees are on the ground is usually considered the easier way to perform a push-up but that’s not necessarily the case. If performed properly, the modified push-up is just as challenging as your standard push up. But of course your core must be engaged during either version and lead with your chest and not your hips to ensure you’re allowing your core to support your lower back and your chest and shoulders to pick up some of the load.
- Plant and screw, what we mean is place your palms firmly on the floor. Push down on the floor and twist your palms outwards as if your firmly screwing your hands into the ground.
- Your body should form a straight line from your feet to your head when you have proper form. The better your form is, the easier it will be for you to control your movement.
- Squeeze your glutes, just as with the plank you want to engage your core while keeping a neutral spine.
- Oxygen = Energy | Breathing properly is an essential part of any exercise and push-ups are no different. (Try inhale down, and exhale up)
